Polystyrene Shell

Today I wrote a narrative of my meal at borough market from the perspective of the polystyrene tray that held my curry. It was an emotional piece, dealing with issues of rejection, inadequacy and abandonment. Here are some extracts.

"Even the fork gets to deliver the satisfaction direct. My cradle is underpinning but overlooked."

"Tainted orange and discarded"

"Slowly reduced to my former self"

"So Lonely"

Frieze Art Fair

At £25 pound a ticked "Frieze Art Fair" was clearly an upmarket affair. One of my first comments was "Does anyone else feel like their in Ikea?". I think that summed it up. It was Ikea for really rich people from Paris. The art in general was pretty good and some pieces really blew me away. I particularly enjoyed the Saville piece. The number of abstract installations and sculptures really seemed to overpower the little painting and drawing talent that was there. I also met Saad from "School of Saatchi" which was an exciting experience. He seemed shocked that I knew who he was though. To conclude. I enjoyed the fair but it was too busy and pretentious.

Brief Brief

Im 1 week into a short 4 week project called "Food and Location". To start with I had my initial OCD about starting a new sketchbook where I refuse to ruin the pristine white pages but I pulled through. Im blazing my way through the research and really submerging myself into deep philosophical and psychological shit. The final outcome of the project is a double-sided, monochromatic A0 poster, which to tell you the truth, I'm pretty psyched about.

Freshman

I started my GMD @ LCC on monday. I have been in halls for the past 2/3 weeks and have done nothing productive. Somehow during this time I have had countless ideas for projects and stuff. London has managed to re-fertilize my creative soil. And I don't mean that in a dirty way.

I watched "In Bruges" in Dublin.

I saw this sign in the Temple Bar area of Dublin and it made me laugh. Ireland was more Irish than I expected it to be.

A bushel of apples

In the next two months I will be spending alot of money with the apple. Im planning on buying The highest spec 13" Macbook Pro. The 24" LED Cinema display and a 32gb Iphone 4. Plus a load of software. The biggest attraction is just how organised I will look. Plus, I can use MoblieMe which will be cool. I figure if something is work doing, it's worth doing right. Photos of my set up will come eventually

Body Facts + A Body Myth

So, this is four of the six posters I created for my FMP. The result of the FMP as an interactive exhibition where users had to hazard a guess at which of the five statements (posters) was a myth and which were facts. The "Facts" were all human body orientated. I am quite happy with the final outcomes. Especially the 3D poster that actually works.

Exhibitionist.

Here are a couple of images taken by my pal Henry Brown of my exhibit at my end of year show. The exhibition was only of our final major project work, which was good in the fact that each exhibit had an overall theme but bad for me as I had pre-fmp work that I would like to have shown.

Tuesday Mornings

He is a life drawing I am quite proud of. There is a cropped version too. I have been really getting into figure drawing and recently did an essay on Jenny Saville, Euan Uglow and Egon Schiele who all really awesome.

I have been busy (In my mind)

I have been really busy lately (at least in the worrying/over-thinking department) which has meant I haven't had much time for blogging. This is down to interviews. In particular, at an interview waiting room there were at least 25 people in there with me and I had my a2 portfolio and everyone else had a1 portfolios and I had a definite feeling of inadequacy. Its pretty funny now, it wasn't at the time though. But anyway, here is a little something I have been working on. I made a few t-shirts on Thursday and I'm making more next week and this is one of the designs. I will post more when I get them done. I may change the design because some people have been offended by the language. Personally, I think they need to grow up. See what I did there ?

Bit of Illustration

Desk Job

I have created this just as a sort of Public Service Announcement. People see Graphic Design in many different ways. This is my opinion.
